Workshop on ‘data science and analytics in agricultural research’ 

Dimapur, February 10 (MExN): A two-day workshop on ‘data science and analytics in agricultural research’ under the banner of PhD Forum in collaboration with Research & Extension Cell (REC), NU: SASRD was conducted on February 9 and 10.

A press release received here stated that the resource persons were Shagolsem Herojit Singh, guest faculty, Department of Agricultural Economics and Limasunep Ozukum, PhD Scholar, Department of Agricultural Economics.

The training included orientation and introduction to statistics covering both experimental research and social research followed by hands on training using excel and SPSS software beneficial in agricultural research. 

Imkongsunep Walling, Convenor, PhD Forum welcomed the participants. The inaugural session was graced by Prof L Daiho, Dean & Chairperson, REC, NU: SASRD. He highlighted the importance of data science in agricultural research and enlightened the gathering with his vast experience and knowledge regarding data analysis. 

Participants were handed out with certificate of participation by Saya D, General Secretary, PhD Forum. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Pem Thinley, Co-Convenor, PhD Forum. 

Altogether, 132 participants comprising of AICRP scientist, PhD Scholars, MSc and BSc students participated in the programme.
