DIMAPUR, MAY 18 (MExN): One day workshop on Nagaland State Agriculture Produce Marketing Act 2005 and infrastructure for market development was organized by the Department of Agriculture Dimapur on May 1.
Altogether about 250 participants mostly VCC, VCM and APMC members, heads of Agri & allied departments attended the workshop. C. Mozhui, joint Director of Agriculture Marketing and Secretary of NSAMB was the main resource person.
He stated that the Nagaland state Agriculture Produce Marketing Act 2005 is an act to provide for establishment, improvement and regulation of markets and marketing system for agriculture produce in the state of Nagaland including processing and export thereof.
The main objective of the act is to administer and regulate the development activities of agriculture marketing in the state. He also dealt with the structural origination and the function of Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board (APMC), Village Marketing Committee (VMC) under the act. This act permits contract farming, direct marketing system and establishment of private yards.
Inavi, marketing officer also spoke on infrastructure for market development such as rural primary market, Apnamandi and whole sale market etc. Tokoho, Chairman APMC Kuhuboto spoke on behalf of the participants expressing sincere gratitude to the department of Agriculture for organizing the workshop as it creates awareness of the state marketing act to the people.
The workshop was conducted under the chairmanship of Nguzonyi Wetsah, District Agriculture officer Dimapur.
