“Your voice…is their future”
DIMAPUR, MAY 5 (MExN): May 7 is observed, yearly, as World AIDS Orphans Day. Started by FXB International with the support of partners, World AIDS Orphans Day is a grassroots campaign to draw attention to, and advocate on behalf of the over 15 million children orphaned by AIDS, stated a press note. Since 2002, thousands of people have participated in World AIDS Orphans Day events in more than 20 countries. Almost 800 mayors and elected officials in more than 40 countries have signed pledges advocating for the need to address the orphan crisis.
Today, a diverse coalition of organizations, Government Officials and citizens are standing up to make children a priority in the fight against AIDS and urging the G8 and donor governments to ensure that 10% of all HIV and AIDS funding supports the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. Help is needed to speak out and spread the word about World AIDS Orphans Day. Let “Your voice” be “their future”.
Along with the rest of the world, Nagaland will observe the day. The event is being organized by Kohima Network of Positive People (KNP+) along with Nagaland State AIDS Control Society. Vikho-ü-Yhoshu, Parliamentary Secretary and Advisor (IT & C) will be the Chief Guest. The program will start at 10:00 AM; State Academy Hall. Your prayer for AIDS orphans around the world is solicited. Your presence is requested to show your solidarity.
