The writings on the Naga wall

1. Naga public along with Nagaland police personnel and their spouses demands the retention of DGP Rupin Sharma through a signature campaign! 2. Konyak people agitate against the slaying and violence in their lands! What contradictions and reversals of mindsets and actions are taking place in the hearts and minds of Nagas today?

From a political perspective, Naga should have been very happy if an occupational Indian Police officer of the highest rank is to be removed from their occupied land. But surprisingly, most Nagas are for his retention and continuation. Now what can this mean? This simply means that Nagas do not hate Indians. In fact they are ready to go all out to keep this friendly Indian in their midst. After all, if they hate Indians as a race, they would not be bothered even if an Indian goes away or dies in their lands. But the present Naga agitation shows that they do not hate Indians as a nation. Nagas hate only the Indian state that has been brought into their lands with the collaboration of some Naga traitors. These corrupt Nagas are today building their wealth all over Nagaland as well as in other Indian states. But however much the ordinary Naga dislikes the surreal appearance of this Indian state in Nagaland, the present agitation shows that given the choice, the overwhelming majority of Nagas would prefer an honest Indian Officer to a corrupt Naga officer. I hope our corrupt Naga politicians and bureaucrats are clearly seeing the writings on the wall.

As for the second irony, the action of the Konyaks and the entire ENPO shows that Naga are all so weary of the violence that has ravaged their lands for the past seven decades. Their action shows that every cell in every Naga body aches and longs for peace and tranquillity in their God given lands. In this circle of pain and agony, one also cannot, but grief with the widows of Indian wives who have lost their husbands in the killing fields of Nagaland over the past seven decades. All their lives have been sacrificed in the political altar of the lie that Nagas are Indians and Nagaland is Indian Territory. No Naga can, but sympathise with their tensioned filled lives and their meaningless deaths when they die patrolling a foreign county’s (Nagaland) borders and territories.

Yet in spite of so many deaths over so many years, pseudo Naga politicians and lying Indian politicians will go on shaking hands and carry on talking about hybrid races that can emerge from some shared sovereignty experiments.
