Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): Advocacy on HIV & AIDS for local area church leaders was organized by WSBAK at Akuvuto Mission Centre, the headquarters of Western Sumi church workers, on May 31. It was sponsored by Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) and Nagaland Development Outreach.
Dr. Hotoka Hesso, Senior Medical Officer, ART Centre, District Hospital Dimapur and N. Suhuto Chishi, Youth Promoter, Department of Youth Ministry, WSBAK were the resource persons.
The house resolved that ministry for people with disability will be initiated for equal rights and privileges; to eradicate and advocate against ill treatment to HIV & AIDS patients in all the church platforms; and to emphasise and strengthen the holistic ministry of the church.
In the group discussion and interaction, video clippings on true stories of surviving People Living with HIV (PLHIV) were screened and some case studies were also shared for participants to gain more insights and also to analyse the social condition of people who are affected.
Altogether, there were 68 participants (WSBAK Staff, Pastors, Associate Pastor Women, Associate Pastor Youth and Associate Pastor Children).
A press release received here mentioned that Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) through its development department, the Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO), in partnership with Legislator’s Forum on AIDS is taking the initiative to spread message through conducting advocacy and awareness programmes targeting the churches to equip its leaders so that the message/information reaches the grassroots level.
