DIMAPUR, JANUARY 23 (MExN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has accused Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye of being involved in “rampant illegal development activities at the disputed Kiyevi village land in violation of status quo order.”
A press release from the media cell of the WSH said “alarmingly, it has also been reliably brought to the knowledge of the Hoho that, the rampant development activities in the disputed areas is being perpetrated and escalated with the direct involvement, help, support and assistance of the Home Minister of Nagaland Y Patton and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye.”
It said that constant development is being undertaken in and around the Lamhainamdi settlement despite the standing government order vide GAB-1/333/2014(VOL-1) dated June 25, 2019 for maintaining status quo in the said areas.
“On the strength of the said status quo order, the people of Kiyevi Village have been strictly restrained from carrying out any activities including the cultivation of their bonafide farmland, plantation etc. whereas on the other hand the settlers of Lamhainamdi has continued unabated with major development works in and around the settlement,” it said.
“The actions of our leaders have raised grave concerns and sparked serious questions about their true intentions and commitment to preserving communal harmony and peace within the Naga community. This not only violates the government's status quo order but also fuels communal discord and violence amongst communities,” the WSH stated.
The WSH urged all “right-thinking Nagas” to take notice of this “high-handedness by some high-profile leaders and ministers, who are pumping huge resources into the illegal development of a disputed area.”
