WSYF commends WSH’s action on identity issue

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has extended its appreciation to the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) for what it termed as “timely and responsible action in addressing a matter related to the identity and integrity of the Naga people.”

According to a press release from WSYF, the effort pertained to one person who had been identifying himself as S Tovishe Yepthomi reverting to his original name Shiva Narayan Choudhury.
The WSYF hailed this as a correction of a serious misrepresentation and an example of respect for the cultural and ethnic sensitivities of the Naga people.

WSYF also lauded Choudhury for taking the right step in acknowledging public concerns and restoring his original identity, describing it as an act of honesty and mutual respect.

The Front encouraged others who may have assumed names or identities not rightfully theirs to follow this example.

The WSYF highlighted the action of WSH as a commitment to safeguarding the unique cultural identity of the Naga people. It stated that such efforts set a powerful precedent for communities to remain vigilant in preserving their heritage. The organization urged other bodies and individuals to adopt WSH’s approach that is firm, respectful, and truth rooted in upholding the diverse cultures of the Nagas for generations to come.
