Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): The Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) inspected the ongoing road construction works from Central Jail Junction, Dimapur to Atu Ghoki (Zubza Bridge) in the presence of the contractor and department officials on January 18.

While the pace of construction is satisfactory, the WSYF observed that some portions of completed works have shown traces of damage. In this regard, it requested the contractor to re-work on the damaged portions.

“It is learnt that the work order has been approved only for soiling of this road. However, this road being an important connectivity road with the Naga Foothill Road, the WSYF earnestly appeals the Chief Minister to step in to see that the road is metalled for longevity and a smoother ride for the public,” stated an update issued by the WSYF media cell.

While appreciating Minister for PHED, Jacob Zhimomi and Advisor for Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio for their interest in this road and under whose constituencies the ongoing construction of the road falls, the WSYF requested the two leaders to pursue with the government for blacktopping of the road in the interest of the public.

The WSYF also mentioned that it is seriously viewing the reports that certain elements are disturbing the contractor with monetary demands. The youth front urged any organization to desist from similar monetary demands in connection with the road construction.

It also added that the contractor has expressed positivity of completing the road works by February.

The WSYF observed that this road will not only benefit the villages and towns along the route but the entire Naga people since it connects the Naga Foothill Road and therefore, it is “according top priority and deep interest towards quality workmanship” of the road.
