JALUKIE, JANUARY 15 (MExN): The Xavierite Cultural Troupe group from St. Xavier College, Jalukie under the banner of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) was part of the Global Harmony Festival held at Mar Thoma City, Azhikode, Kerala, from January 13 to 15.
The troupe was on a special invitation to this 8th annual mega event of dances and songs from across the states and cultures. The three-day event is organised by Chetana Music Academy directed by Fr. Paul. The Xavierites presented an hour long cultural presentation with Zeliang, Rongmei, Kuki, Chang & Sema tunes and dances. The audience was thrilled to be entertained and enlightened by the young Nagas with their cultural presentations and explanatory descriptions.
“It has been a feast to our eyes and hearts. We enjoyed every bit of it,” commented an organiser. Rev. Fr. Puthur appreciated greatly the novel presentations and wished all the best for the group to extend their cultural mission in the future. Dr. Francis Cheerangal, Principal, St. Xavier, Jalukie and team Director was acknowledged and appreciated with a traditional wear by the organisers.
“Kerala is blessed and we are the product of that blessings,” said Fidelis, a dancer, acknowledging the vast contribution of the priests, sisters, educators and professionals from kerala. “On this occasion we take this opportunity to express our thanks to you, the land and people of Kerala for your helping hand in making us what we are.”
On behalf of the church in Nagaland, Fr. Benny, Youth Director & NCYM, St Xavier college Jalukie said, “we thank you sincerely from our heart.” The cultural troupe will return to Nagaland after a three-day exchange program in Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum.
