Dimapur, October 19 (MExN): The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) officials undertook an official tour within its jurisdiction under Tuensang district from October 12 to 15 to inspect and assess the government schools as well as to oversee the various developmental activities being undertaken within its jurisdiction.
It was informed in a joint statement issued by YAA President Z. Throngshe and General Secretary Deventhong that during the tour, YAA officials met and interacted with the teachers, officials and VEC’s and detected various inadequacies and anomalies.
Informs teachers and officers to report on or before Oct 25
The DIS office at Shamator Town is virtually non-functional with most of the staff being irregular or absent including the DIS Shamator. It was also learnt that most of the office work is being functioned from Tuensang. The Deputy Inspector of Schools, Shamator does not have an official quarter in Shamator. The YAA has therefore appealed to the concern authority to construct the DIS quarter at the earliest so that the officer can stay and perform duties sincerely and efficiently. GHS Shamator building which was constructed way back in 1979 is now in a dilapidated state. Some of the class rooms are without desk and benches for the students and the school building does not have a security fencing around it. Adding insult to the injury, the GHS Shamator is functioning without the head-master with inadequate teachers and non-teaching staff, the statement added.
Further, it reported that at GPS K. Longsor Village, a single teacher is running the school. There were three teachers in 2007, however one teacher expired, and the service of another teacher was terminated due to bogus appointment and no teachers have been deployed in the school since then. The GHS Sotokur does not have the headmaster and asstistnat headmaster. Appointment has already been made but so far the concerned persons have never reported to school.
The team also paid a visit to GPS at Shamator Village, Yakor Village, Leangkonger Village, Sotokur GMS and 3rd NAP Sector GMS, Shamator to verify the school building construction under SSA and found the construction to have been completed satisfactorily.
The YAA also paid a visit to over see the ongoing works on NH-155 between Kuthur and Yakor Village and found the work being carried out in a satisfactory manner till now. The YAA while appreciating the good work also urge the concerned contractor to carry out quality work so as not to avoid unwanted complaints/complications. The concerned Department is also urged upon not to release the bills without proper verification of the work.
Moreover, the YAA has appealed to all government officials, teachers and non-teaching staffs to be regular and sincere in discharging their assigned duties and also warned that it will not tolerate against irregular and insincere government servants within its jurisdiction. The YAA further informs the concern teachers and officers to immediately join their posting place on or before October 25, failing which the YAA will take its own course of action. The YAA also directs all the Village Education Committee’s (VEC) under Yimchungrü jurisdiction to report to the YAA Office if the teaching staffs are found to be irregular or absent from the work.
