YAA opposes teacher transfer notification

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 14 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) has strongly objected to a recent notification issued by the Directorate of School Education on the transfer and posting of teachers, calling the move "arbitrary, discriminatory, and unfair."

In a letter addressed to the Principal Director of the department, the YAA stated that while it acknowledges efforts to rationalize teacher postings, it "vehemently object[s]" to the manner in which the transfers have been carried out. The organization said it "will not accept its implementation within our Yimkhiung jurisdiction until a fair, rational, and transparent process is established."

"The YAA will not permit the release orders of the concerned teachers to take effect until justice is served," the letter read.

The YAA also demanded that officers responsible for maintaining and providing teacher records offer "a cogent, rational, and evidence-based explanation for these decisions." It alleged that past transfer exercises had similarly been conducted in a manner that "created gratuitous obstacles and complications" instead of addressing teacher shortages.

The organization urged that rationalization initiatives should "prioritize the deployment of teachers in a manner that optimizes educational outcomes, rather than perpetuating a culture of randomness and unpredictability."

The YAA further warned that it "remains resolute in its determination to protect the rights of its students" and would "vigorously pursue all available remedies, including judicial recourse," to ensure fairness in the process.

The notification in question, issued on February 10 covers the transfer and posting of Primary Teachers, Graduate Teachers, Graduate Hindi Teachers, and Undergraduate Hindi Teachers.
