DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): Immediately after taking over as Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Lalhuma has begun the work of tightening the screws in the monthly meetings of Heads of Departments (HOD). The IAS officer said that there is a need to overhaul the monthly meeting of Administrative Heads and Heads of Departments to make it a result-oriented meeting, according to an official news bulletin. Chairing the special monthly meeting of HOD in Kohima on March 3, he felt that discussions between officers of all Departments, irrespective of ranks, should be more interactive. He said that from the next monthly meeting three to four departments will be listed to make presentations projecting their visions, innovative schemes, current activities and their achievements.
He also suggested that the monthly HOD meeting should be transformed into a forum for fruitful debate on all socio-economic activities of the departments.
To begin with, Lalhuma suggested the department of SIRD, ATI and Economics and Statistics to make a presentation highlighting their vision and achievements. He further declared that the year 2006 should be declared as the year of innovation for the various departments.
Agri-Expo, a major event scheduled to be held at Dimapur in the last week of March also came up for discussions. In this connection Alemtemshi, APC reminded all departments who have guest houses at Dimapur to renovate them at the earliest saying that lodging will be a problem. Besides ministers, hundreds of Central Government officials and investors will be attending the week-long Agri-Expo.
