Kohima | December 29
'Yearnings' - a collection of 60 short poems written by noted Publisher and writer Vishü Rita Krocha was released on Saturday evening, December 27 at Ete Coffee, Billy Graham Road Kohima. The book was released by special guest Asalie Lese, NCS, Under Secretary to the Government of Nagaland.
“As the title suggests, it contains recollections of moments, people, places and things that I love. As you grow older, you also realise that a lot of things in life are temporary - there are people you lose along the way and then, you are left with questions that have no answers. There are happy moments you lose to time and all you are left with in the end are memories of the times you once lived in,” said Krocha while reading out a few poems from her collection.
The writer also contemplated on the pasts which she believed, shaped our lives in many ways.
Further, poetry being the purest form of expression, Krocha expressed the hope that some of the poems in the book will resonate with the reader's own good memories in life.
Appreciating the simplicity of words in the collection, Dr. Sao Tunyi, Blogger and Episdemiologist, viewed that the observant nature of the poet comes through this simplicity. “The poems are majorly written from a position of weakness which is the strength or force of the book,” stated Dr. Tunyi. And while the words are simple, Dr. Tunyi opined that the thoughts are not simplistic. “The effortlessness of the poems in this book is a sign of maturity of the poet in art,” remarked Dr. Tunyi.
A remarkable element of the poet, for Dr. Kevizonuo Kuolie, Assistant Professor, ICFAI, is the ability to capture and accentuate the subtlest shade of mundane emotion that are often missed out. "As the title indicates, she talks of nostalgia, the loss of familiarity.
“The poems reverberate of one that hurts yet doesn't rave and rant but quietly and gracefully accepts without bitterness and says 'just let the world be,” said Dr. Kevizonuo Kuolie adding that each delicate layer of loss and yearning is heightened in the collection.
“Yearnings is an expression which resonates universal loves and losses. As you flip through the pages you wonder at her story yet you relate more so to yourself. You find a reflection of your own unexpressed thoughts and heartaches,” added Dr. Kuolie.
According to special guest Asalie Lese, the collection 'is the story of human heart and human relationships'. “You can discover and rediscover life. Life itself is a collection of moments and you will rediscover life through this collection,” said Lese.
