Yimkhiung Tribal Council condemns social media attacks amid IAS induction row

Shamator, November 6 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the ongoing deadlock surrounding the IAS induction process, which has triggered pen-down and tool-down strikes, causing disruptions in the functioning of State Government offices.

In a statement, the Council condemned the circulation of personal images and targeting of an officer on social media, calling such acts “unethical and undemocratic” and tantamount to defamation and character assassination. The YTC urged individuals and organisations to refrain from making personal remarks against any officer.

The Council noted that the State Government has been following the rules of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, in nominating and shortlisting candidates for IAS induction from the Non-SCS category, based on eligibility and performance criteria. It emphasised that the selection process should be left to the discretion of the State Government and cautioned against undue interference.

“The selected candidates are yet to undergo further rounds of interviews, and the ongoing speculation creates unnecessary confusion,” the Council said. It appealed to all concerned to allow the government space to make decisions in the best interest and welfare of all Nagas.
