Longleng, September 10 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Longleng K. Libanthung Lotha graced the 20th Freshers’ cum Foundation Day of Yingli College as the chief guest on September 9.
Yingli College, Vice Principal B. Henshet Phom in a press note said that the DC encouraged the students and staff of the College to feel proud for being the members of the highest learning institution of the district. He advised them to be more responsible and hard working so as to be a role model for the people, particularly youngsters of the district. He felicitated the freshers and wished them to make their stay in the college memorable and successful part of their life. The DC was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Sonia Singh, PA to DC Bhamak and many officers of the district.
Invocation was pronounced by Henmei Associate Pastor, Longleng Town Baptist Church. Principal of the college Dr. Alempa Ao delivered the welcome address. Special song entitled smiling faces was presented by the senior students. Speech on behalf of the seniors was delivered by Moilen of BA II, while response on behalf of the freshers was spoken by Lichang of Class 11.
President, Association of Phom graduates and officers B. Manpong also exhorted the students. Other highlight of the programme was the giving away of the academic awards to the best performing students and teachers of the college; rendition of the poem ‘Go and catch a falling star!’ by Phongnyü and Hellen and the show case of traditional attires by the senior students.
The programme culminated with the declaration of Thedong and Lichang as Mr. & Miss. Yingli 2011 by Dr. Mahabir Jha. Vote of the thanks was conveyed by Asst. Prof. C. Theppen Phom. The programme was anchored by John Chingphen and Mongaü Lakshang. The second session of the day was marked by cultural extravaganzas organized by the students of the college.
