Wokha, January 2 (MExN): Yonchucho Students' Union (YSU) celebrated golden jubilee on December 28 and 29, 2018 with Additional Director, Department of Agriculture, C. Peter Yanthan gracing the event and also unveiling the jubilee monolith stone.
Speaking on the occasion on December 29 as the special guest, Yanthan informed that knowledge has no end, as education is lifelong processes. He informed the young students to work hard and acquire more knowledge and make it as a tool for the community progress as knowledge one gained is never lose or stolen.
He stated that we cannot compromise our future if the students of present generation are not dedicated and walk in the right direction, stating that students are the biller of the future generations. He called the youths to be vital for the society needs the younger generation to progress and move forward. He also urged the people not to develop complacency but develop a positive mindset attitude to learn and know more and wished the YSU a brighter future.
Dr. Longshibemo Yanthan speaking on the theme “expand your horizon” said that celebration of the 50 golden jubilee of YSU is the past glory of those students’ leaders who envisioned for the future community. He informed the students to be like an eye of an eagle rather than a chicken that has less focus than the eagle.
To expand one’s vision is through inspiration that draws more out of oneself which is done by having positive mindset attitude and seeing things in every different prospective stating that 'If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change'.
On educational prospective, he said that students need to rededicate in their studies and commit themselves in the area of learning stating that 'people without vision will perish'
Meanwhile he lament on greatest menace in the life of a youth and students is through the use of alcohol and drug, that it not only spoils the life but bring unrest to the family and society.
Students were well informed to set their goal with determination and not to be strayed away by someone's timeline, rather to be a leader with vision and let people follow them rather than following and living someone's life.
The monolith stone was dedicated by O Thungben Kikon pastor Wokha village Baptist church. Message of greetings was delivered by Lipemo M Tsopoe president LSU, while the programme was chaired by Thungbeni Kikon cultural secretary LSU.
