In commemoration of the completion of its 10th year existence, the Youth Aflame, Kohima has dedicated a basketball board at the basketball court in the Kohima Local Ground this morning.
The basketball board was dedicated by Tiatoshi Longkumer, youth director, KABA.
He also released a 2012 calendar brought out by Youth Aflame, which carried a catchphrase “Ready... Set...Go Green” to create consciousness on environment and ecology.
Formed on August 24, 2001, Youth Aflame aims to promote cooperation and better understanding among the people, to develop self-reliance and dignity of labour among the youth by uplifting vocational and other activities, to promote, as a lucrative career, sports music and other youth activities, to participate in economic and social environment and to promote charitable works and render assistance for social cause.
Activities taken up by Youth Aflame in the last 10 years included Pulse Polio Immunization 2001-02, career counseling August 2002, Inter School Quiz Competition 2003, Ist Challenger Cup Open Basketball Championship 2004, 2nd Challenger Cup open Basketball Championship 2005, The Voice Within- A Forum 2005, Open Dance Competition 2005, Challenger Cup 3rd Men and Ist Women Open Basketball Championship 2006, Challenger Cup , 4th Men and 2nd Women Open Basketball Championship, 2007, Challenger Cup 2008, Challenger Cup 2009, 6th Men and 3rd Women Open Basketball Championship 2009, Challenger Cup, 7th Men and 4th Women Open Basketball Championship 2010, Challenger Cup, 8th Men and 5th Women Open Basketball Championship 2011.
Further, this Society is also maintaining a library for college students where text books are issued to students for a specified period of time.
