Mokokchung, July 3 (MExN): The Youth Department of different churches in Mokokchung town today held a combined youth service at Kumlong Baptist Church on the occasion of the ABAM Youth Sunday where more than one thousand youths attended the nearly three hour programme. The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (the apex organization of the Ao Baptist churches) observes a Youth Sunday annually which is held in the month of July. This year’s theme was ‘You are my witnesses’ and renowned academician, Akok Walling, English lecturer at Fazl Ali College was the main speaker.
The main speaker, Akok Walling in his sermon challenged the youth to be ‘witnesses of Christ’. He said that to be a witness of Christ, one has to know what to chose, what to reject, what to hold in high esteem and what to keep. Saying that while making choices, one has to reject some other things in life, Walling therefore asked the youth to make choices carefully in life. He said that if one cannot portray Christ through one’s life, then he/she is not a witness of Christ and that it is just a superficial Christian living. He therefore challenged the youths with the words: If Christ suffered and died publicly on the Cross all alone for our salvation, then how many people can publicly testify Christ in the
society.
The members of the different churches presented songs, plays, dramas at the programme. The pastor of Kumlong Baptist Church, Rev I Lima Jamir offered a special prayer for the whole youths in the society.
