Zbto: ‘Factional violence’ kills one

Dimapur, December 22 (MExN): Early this morning, it is reported that cadres of the NSCN Khaplang attacked a makeshift camp of the GPRN/NSCN near Ghukiye village in Zunheboto district. Ghukiye is the native village of GPRN/NSCN general secretary Kitovi Zhimomi.

According to sources, one GPRN/NSCN cadre was killed, while three others were injured in the attack that started at the crack of dawn.  Two injured are said to be in critical condition. Sources stated NSCN Khaplang cadres overran and burnt down the makeshift GPRN/NSCN camp, which was the proposed designated site of the GPRN/NSCN. The camp is located on the outskirts of Ghukiye village, some few kms away from Zunheboto town.  It was also reported that fire arms including a large quantity of military accessories and gadgets were seized.  

GPRN/NSCN sources confirmed the attack and said they are awaiting further details. It was informed that about 8-10 cadres of the GPRN/NSCN were stationed in the makeshift camp. Zunheboto SP informed The Morung Express that the body of the deceased cadre, identified as Ihoto Sumi of Saghemi village, had been handed over to relatives.

It may be recalled that on December 19 last, cadres of the NSCN Khaplang and the GPRN/NSCN exchanged heavy firing at Naharbari, Dimapur, after the GPRN/NSCN objected to the setting up of NSCN (K) ceasefire supervisory board sub-office at Nahabari.
