Ze Students’ Union Dimapur unit celebrates silver jubilee

Dimapur, October 27 (MExN): The Ze Students’ Union, Dimapur-Unit celebrated its 25th Silver Jubilee under the theme ‘crafting the architects of tomorrow’ at Lifespring Corner Retreat Centre, Dimapur on October 26.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest, former General Secretary of Naga Hoho, K Elu Ndang, highlighted the jubilee as a unique time for both celebration and reflection, acknowledging past struggles and joys, stated a press release received here. 

Ndang emphasised the importance of education combined with skill development in the present generation for any progress. He urged students to set specific, realistic goals and encouraged them not to let their empowerment lead to self-centeredness.

Ndang further reflected on the division of the Zeliangrong people across three states—Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland—by colonial rule, stating this separation have held back progress for the community. He called upon students to become the architects who bridge gaps in the community, and urged them to understand the trends shaping the future of the Zeliangrong people.

The guest of honour, Government College Peren, Assistant Professor Ch Andrew Kangba recalled the historical achievements of the Zeliangrong people, remarking on how the people have flourished across various regions. Kangba commented on the current societal tendencies, urging the students to focus on positive growth. 

The programme was compered by Kizeiyile Flory and Echisile Hau, invocation by Zelu Council (Manipur & Nagaland) Chairman Rangom Hau; welcome address by President of Ze Students’ Union Dimapur.
