Zeliangrong Baudi cautions on delimitation

DIMAPUR, APRIL 1 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland has issued a caution note to the State election Commissioner and the CEO of Nagaland that if any adverse report deviating from the decision taken by all political parties of Peren district on March 24, the matter would be viewed seriously and the erring officer would be held solely responsible.

The Zeliangrong Baudi President Dennis Elung in a press note said that an emergency meeting on the ongoing delimitation exercise was held on March 21 at Zonal Council hall, Kohima under the Chairmanship of TN Mannen, State Election Commissioner along with CEO Nagaland and all the DCs to convince the MLAs, public leaders, tribal hohos and village elders of respective districts not to insist on implementation of working paper-I as resolution had been adopted by the State Legislative Assembly and al political parties in this regard, the press note stated.

Accordingly, DC Peren convened a meeting of all political parties including Chairman of Town Councils on March 24 and the meeting had unanimously adopted a resolution that readjustment of constituencies within the district would not be accepted in any manner, but to urge the delimitation commission for implementation of working paper-I in line with the Delimitation Act 2002 and amended Act 2004 in Toto.

“It is pertinent to point out that according to Delimitation Act 2002 section-9 clause-2 (C) the State Elction Commissioner should have conducted public meetings in all district headquarters before he submit all fabricated reports with wrong feeding to the delimitation commission, the Zelaingrong Baudi stated.
