Zeliangrong mourn officer’s demise

Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Hoho of Dimapur and the Jeme Literature Committee condole the demise of Pauning Haikam, retired language officer, on June 7. Two separate messages from the ‘hoho’ and the committee were received here today.
The Zeliangrong Hoho described Haikam was an honest and dedicated officer and a God-fearing man. “He was also one of our prominent Zeliangrong elders and pioneers whom we look to as our literature think-tank, through whose efforts the Zeliangrong dialect (Zeme) could be used in our school,” the message form the ‘hoho’ stated. He also published books on the Zeme dictionary, folklore and Christian songs. Haikam’s demise is a great loss to the Zeliangrong community, the organization stated. The gap his demise has left will be difficult to fill, the hoho said, and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
Likewise, the Jeme Literature Committee described Haikam’s demise as an irreparable loss to the Jeme community. He was an amiable person, a man of integrity, humility and dedication and a trustworthy and dedicated officer, the message from the committee stated.
“He was the main author who published school text books for class-A to VIII. He was the man who worked day and night to bring out Jeme English dictionary. He also published a booklet on Jeme folklore,” the committee stated in its message.
The Jeme Literature Board owed him immensely for his dedicated works for Jeme language development, the committee said while mourning his demise as a great loss to the Zeliangrong community.
“Late Pauning was a man of prayer; he had a clean vision that there is a better resurrection if we live according to the will of God. This has been fulfilled in his life today,” the committee said. The Jeme Literature Board expresses grief and conveys condolences to the bereaved family members.
