Zisaji College seminar explores GST reforms, Viksit Bharat vision

Kiphire,  April 14 (MExN): A two-day national seminar on “GST Reforms – Realizing the Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047” commenced at Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC), Kiphire, on April 14, focusing on strengthening tax reforms in line with India’s long-term development goals.

The inaugural session, held at the college auditorium, brought together academicians, government officials, public representatives, NGOs, local entrepreneurs, and students. 

In his welcome address, ZPC Principal Dr Phyobenthung highlighted the significance of GST reforms in shaping a developed India while Dr Purna Chandra Mishra, Vice Principal and Convener, outlined the objectives of the seminar and the relevance of GST 2.0.

Dheeraj Rastogi, Principal Commissioner of Customs, New Delhi, delivered the inaugural address. Prof N M P Verma spoke on the current GST landscape in India, while Bijayananda Panda of Wipro Ltd presented the keynote address, focusing on GST’s role in economic growth.

During a public dialogue session, officials from the Department of Taxes also shared practical insights on GST implementation and challenges.

The session witnessed active participation from NGOs, civil society, government departments, the business community, and students, informed a press release from the college. 

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Mamata Panda, Head of the Department of Economics and Co-Convener.

Organised in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, the seminar will continue until April 15, the seminar seeks to foster meaningful dialogue and identify effective approaches to strengthening GST reforms in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the release added.
