Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire celebrated its 15th Freshers’ day with Namang Supong Chang, and EAC Kiusum as chief guests at its college auditorium Kiphire today. Speaking at the occasion, Namang called upon the students to be “useful material” so that it will be usable to the society. He also added, “Try to get the certificate of ‘I win’ and not the certificate of ‘I lose’ during students’ life.” He said that the society is being polluted by an attitude of “I cheat education”, whereas the prime focus should be on quality education.
Congratulating the freshers, the chief guest also said, learning is an on-going process and it stops the day one dies and asked the students to keep that in mind. He also asked the students to practice what they learned in School and College so that they become a perfect citizen of society.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. V. Thingo Principal said that enrolment in Zisaji Presidency College is decreasing year by year. While expressing his concern over it, the principal said that in the year 2009 there was 444 students in 2010 it was 323 and in the year 2011 it is 211. He also gave away the meritorious award certificate and cash of Rs 10,000 to Reena Kumari for securing first position in HSSLC from ZPC. Atoka President ICEU spoke on behalf of seniors and LR Athrongba spoke on behalf of freshers. Earlier, Longtichum and Shulichu were crowned Mr and Mrs Fresher 2011.
