DIMAPUR, AUGUST 23 (MExN): The Zeliang Peoples’ Organization held at a general meeting on August 23 at Heningkunglwa and resolved the following. It has extended its appreciation to the State Government for giving indigenous status to Rongmei brethren of Kohima and Dimapur. “However as for Peren District it is not acceptable as no Rongmei had settled in our land prior to 1963”. This was stated in a press note issued by Azu Newmai, President and Kiesamyi Iranggaung General Secretary ZPO Nagaland. It was also resolved that any matter/issue pertaining to the Zeliang people of Peren District, shall be undertaken by the ZPO only.
