ZRSU censures DoSE for failure to remove proxy teacher

Zunheboto, April 14 (MExN): The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) has criticized the inability of the Department of School Education (DoSE), Government of Nagaland to remove the ill practice of proxy teacher.

ZRSU, President, Gihuka K Zhimo and General Secretary, Ito S Chophy on Thursday expressing its anguish stated that despite repeated appeal and request, the department has not taken any positive steps to curtail the issue of government teachers keeping proxy teachers.

“With the availability of many professionally trained teachers awaiting recruitment, those unwilling to serve in schools should be removed to pave way for those willing to serve with dedication,” the union stated.

The union mentioned that in this regard, ZRSU has given a representation to the Sub Divisional Education Officer, Zunheboto on February 21, 2022 to take strict measures to completely eradicate the malpractice of proxy teacher in government schools within Zunheboto district Headquarter. The SDEO Zunheboto was appraised to take positive action within 15 days of the ZRSU representation. It was stated that in case of failure to curb the issue within the stipulated time, the department will be held fully responsible and thereafter, the union shall take its own course of action.

ZRSU said that it will initiate stringent measures against those erring teachers who only enjoy their salary without any effort of providing quality education to the students. “The Union shall go to any extent to make sure that the unethical practice of proxy teacher is eradicated in our society,” it reiterated
