As part of the week-long awareness, advocacy and collective action campaign under the theme “A Global Call for Climate Action,” the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), in collaboration with Ward GBs and ward representatives, conducted an awareness programme at Alahuto Colony on June 11.
The campaign, which commenced on June 7, is scheduled to continue till June 12 across various wards and colonies within Zunheboto Town. The initiative aims to raise public awareness on climate change, environmental protection, waste management, and the collective responsibility of citizens in creating a cleaner and greener environment.

During the programme at Alahuto Colony, Chairperson ZTC Herato Sukhalu highlighted the growing challenges posed by climate change and stressed the importance of community participation in environmental conservation efforts. “We should adopt eco-friendly practices, reduce waste generation, maintain cleanliness in the surroundings, and contribute towards sustainable development,” the Chairperson added.
The organisers also emphasised that climate action begins at the local level and that every individual has a role to play in protecting natural resources and preserving the environment for future generations.
More awareness activities are expected to be carried out in different localities before the campaign concludes on June 12.
