The Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC) on February 16 dismantled the old traffic point at the main junction of Zunheboto town as part of a traffic management and beautification initiative.

The structure, located at the intersection connecting Kohima via Mokokchung Road, Alahuto Road and the Old Town Centre, had reportedly caused congestion for several years due to its size and location.

ZTC Chairperson, Herato Sukhalu said the move was aimed at improving vehicular movement at the busy junction. He informed that a new smart traffic point would be constructed in place of the old structure.

According to the council, the proposed traffic point will be smaller, modern and space-efficient. It will be set up below the foot overbridge constructed under the initiative of KT Sukhalu, MLA and Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection.

Council officials stated that the new arrangement is expected to streamline traffic flow and improve the overall layout of the town centre. The council has sought cooperation from the public during the implementation of the project.
