Zunheboto: 9th Inter-Departmental Tournament underway

Zunheboto, July 21 (MExN): The 9th edition of the Inter-Departmental Tournament, organized by District Sports Council Zunheboto (DSCZ) started at the district headquarters with Advisor for School Education & SCERT, KT Sukhalu as the special guest on July 21.

In his speech, Sukhalu encouraged the gathering to look upon sports as a primary prospect for livelihood and as a profession. The mentality of our people should shift from office jobs only to other prospects and sports is very strongly proving itself to be, if not the best, among the best means of alternative, he added. 

A DIPR report stated that the Advisor further spoke about the recent developments regarding the DIET Centre at district headquarter which was approved and would very soon re-start when sanctioned. He also urged the public to remain cautious and not to be complacent about the COVID situation in the state and district and to be prepared for any eventualities. Advisor later distributed 3 lakh face-masks under CSR to every assembly constituency of the district.

Deputy Commissioner and chairman DSCZ, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS), delivered the welcome address. The gathering was enthralled by a special song from Abotoli on behalf of ZAMAR (Round the clock). Oath-taking was administered by Member of DSCZ, Dennis P Awomi.

Altogether, 39 departments are participating in the tournament of two events, Badminton and Carrom.
