Zunheboto, August 22 (MExN): A one-day sensitisation and awareness programme on fortified rice was organized by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Zunheboto District at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Zunheboto on August 21.
During the seminar, common misconceptions and doubts surrounding fortified rice (fortified rice kernels) being mistaken for plastic rice was clarified. It was affirmed that fortified rice kernel is perfectly safe and suitable for human consumption, stated a DIPR report.
ADC Zunheboto, Moakumzuk Tzudir, addressing the attendees, emphasized the importance of not being misled by social media videos and encouraged everyone to learn from the seminar about the benefits of fortified rice.
Shan Ezung, the State Technical Officer (PATH) and a resource person at the seminar explained the significance of fortified rice, highlighting its micro-nutrient content, including Iron, Vitamins B12, and folic acid.
The meeting was chaired by Inspector Food & Civil Supplies Zunheboto, Alovito T Yeptho, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Phukato Zhimo.
