Zunheboto, November 7 (MExN): In anticipation of the annual Ahuna Festival, the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), with support from the Sumi Hoho, has undertaken a series of infrastructure enhancements to ensure a more welcoming experience for festival-goers. Scheduled from November 11 to 14, the Ahuna Festival is a vital cultural celebration for the Sumi community, drawing participants from across the region.
In preparation for the event, the ZTC has initiated renovations at the District Sports Complex, focusing on filling potholes and painting restroom facilities. These upgrades align with the council’s broader objective to improve public amenities and enhance the festival experience for both residents and visitors.
The festivities will be graced by K Tokugha Sukhalu, IAS (Rtd), Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, as the chief guest. The event promises a vibrant display of traditional activities and cultural presentations, highlighting the heritage of the Sumi people.
Meanwhile, ZTC Councillor Vikheshe Aye, who also chairs the Alahuto Ward Disaster Management, provided updates on the recent landslide in Alahuto Colony. He confirmed that district officials, alongside a central assessment team, have surveyed the affected areas, where multiple families were displaced. Aye reassured that relief measures are in place to support those impacted by the disaster, as the community prepares to celebrate amidst ongoing recovery efforts.
