Zunheboto District observed World Environment Day under the theme “Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future,” with various organisations, churches and government departments participating.
Speaking at a plantation drive organised by the Green Club Zunheboto in collaboration with the District Forest Department at SBAK Nito Mount, Ikali N Kinimi, Ranger at the District Forest Office, Zunheboto, stressed the importance of nurturing saplings after planting.
“Planting alone is not enough, we must nurture and protect what we plant for the future,” she said, noting the urgency of addressing climate change. “Our office has been distributing saplings to every village, organisation, and office. Let us come together and work for the betterment of our society.”
Rev Kughato K Chophy Executive Secretary SBAK Nito Mount while speaking at the plantation drive stressed that the center vision for this year is year of plantation and development, “We have planted so many plants and trees in the center and many village have come forward to contribute and support the vision, we will try our best to nurture and take care of the plantation. We also have plans to revisit the plantation drive from Zunheboto to Satakha planted during the world environment day 2025” Rev Chophy added
Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church youth Ministry also conducted a cleanliness drive across Zunheboto town and many schools in Zunheboto town, Zunheboto Town council, colonies and organisations also participated in the world environment day.
