Bloom Field Hill Higher Secondary School (BFHSS), Zunheboto organised its Literary Programme 2026 under the theme “Stride with Visionary” at the school conference hall on April 11. The special guest and theme speaker was Boholi Zhimo, Assistant Pastor Children, Sumi Baptist Church, Zunheboto.
Addressing the gathering, Boholi Zhimo stated that “Stride with visionary” means to initiate a step forward with confidence and contribute to the realization of a vision. It is about being proactive rather than reactive. She encouraged students who stand at the threshold of a journey, stepping into a wider world full of opportunities and challenges, sharing thoughts to guide them along their way.
On time management, she said it is one of the most valuable gifts one will ever have, once it passes, it never returns. She urged students to respect and manage time wisely, stressing that one should not wait for the right moment to begin something important. “You start now with whatever you have,” she said, adding that even small, consistent efforts every day can lead to great achievements.
Those who value time are the ones who shape their future.
On standing by one’s word, she stated that promises and dreams have no value unless they are followed by actions. “Let your words carry truth and let your actions reflect your intentions. When you say you will do something, commit to it with sincerity and discipline,” she added, noting that this habit alone will set one apart in life. Encouraging students to be doers of their thoughts, she said one should not just think about success but work for it, not just speak about change but create it. “The world belongs to those who act, who try, who persist even when the path is difficult.”
She further urged students to carry the right mindset, remain true to their word, stay strong in their actions, and never stop striving to become better. “Whatever you do, do it with all your heart. Never feel ashamed of doing any kind of work. It may be big or small, but it will take you somewhere far someday. No task is insignificant if it is done with sincerity,” she said, adding, “The world respects those who are willing to learn, to try and to contribute, no matter how humble the beginning may be. Every success story starts with a small step.”
She questioned whether the students’ vision would take them far or if they were striding aimlessly without direction. She urged them to choose wisely and reminded them that life as a student will not always be easy. There will be obstacles, failures, and moments of doubt, but they should not be discouraged. She encouraged them to work hard, stay determined, and believe in their abilities to rise again. Hard work, she said, is not just about achieving success but about building character, discipline, and resilience. “Stand firm and keep walking, never stop yourself from moving ahead.”
She concluded her address by quoting Martin Luther King Jr.: “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But by all means, keep moving.”
Hekato Sema, Principal, BFHSS while speaking to the media, highlighted that the school was earlier known as Kiddies Lane School with the motto “Rise and Shine,” established in 1992. After 18 successful years, the institution was renamed Bloom Field Hill School, and upon its upgrade to higher secondary level in 2017, it was named Bloom Field Hill HSS. He noted that the school has lived up to its motto for the past 34 years, with more than 300 students and over 20 teaching staff, excluding supporting staff. He also mentioned that the school received recognition from the Governor of Nagaland for producing a subject topper in Sütsa (Sumi Language).
Earlier, the programme was moderated by Tonito Zhimo and Viboli Zhimo, AHM, with an invocation by Hinoto Achumi, Associate Pastor (Sector). A greeting message was delivered by Pukito Zhimo, AHM, and a special presentation was performed by Vilino K. Zhimo of Class 4.
The formal session was followed by competitions including quiz, quartet, and debate for Classes 10 and 12; extempore speech for Classes 10 and 12; essay writing for Classes 9, 10, and 12; poem recitation for Class 4 and below; Bible Bee for Class 4 and below; and sketching and painting for Classes 5 to 8.
