With the facility aimed at providing a dedicated space for local farmers and producers to market and sell organically grown agricultural products, an Organic Marketing Shed was dedicated at the Super Market in Zunheboto on September 29.
The programme commenced with invocation by Councillor, Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), Hilika Y Yeptho, followed by a short speech by Councillor (Advisor), ZTC, Hekuto Zhimo, who stated that the shed was constructed under the 15th Finance Commission.
The consecration and blessing of the marketing shed was performed by Kupuli Achumi, Secretary Pastor, Project (W), while the facility was formally unveiled by ZTC Chairperson K Herato Sukhalu.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhalu said that after more than a decade, the town council had been reconstituted and was working to undertake various initiatives for the improvement of Zunheboto town.
He urged vendors to take proper care of the newly established facility and treat it as their own. He further informed that the Town Council is planning to construct another marketing shed and a washroom in the area for local vendors to promote locally produced and organic products. Sukhalu also said that the existing old marketing shed is planned to be renovated.
Vikuto Rotokha, GB of Project Colony West Zunheboto, acknowledged the ZTC for constructing the facility and providing a dedicated space for local vendors. The programme was chaired by Councillor, ZTC, Kakikho Achumi.
