Dimapur, March 3 (MExN): A new health sub-centre was inaugurated in Zutoi village under Niuland block by Dr T Pangjung Sangtam, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur on March 3.
The dedication prayer was pronounced by Pastor Tokhavi Aye. During the inaugural ceremony, Dr Pangjung said though a health sub-centre provides only basic health services, it plays a major role in the preventive aspect.
He said that many diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and other lifestyle diseases can be prevented with early detection and awareness, a press release from Kimnei, District Media Officer, DPMU said.
A health sub-centre provides services such BP & blood sugar check, immunization, ANC, etc which are essential in thwarting these preventable diseases. Dr Pangjung added that the sub-centre belongs not only to Zutoi village but to all the surrounding villages and therefore, the community should take ownership of it as its future development and maintenance depends on the community support.
He further requested the community to co-operate and assist the staff. Earlier, Khevishe Zhimomi, head GB of Zutoi village said that village leaders of Zutoi, Vikheto, Zhekishe, Tokishe and Wachan had earlier petitioned to the Medical Department to establish a health centre in the village owing to non accessibility of health care services, and acknowledged the department for fulfilling their hope and aspiration.
Tokugha Zhimo, Village Council, Zutoi village while expressing gratitude towards the department also requested that all necessary equipments, furnishing and services to be provided along with more staff so as to make the health facility fully functional at the earliest.
The programme was chaired by Pastor Tokhavi Aye and closing prayer was delivered by Associate Pastor Nikali. Other officials present during the event included Dr Antoly Suu, Dy CMO; Dr Benchilo, DTO; Dr Imtiwabong, DVBO; Dr Rebecca, DPO (UIP/RCH); Dr Caroline, MO Niuland CHC; DPM (NHM); BPM Niuland Block and District Media Officer (NHM).
