KOHIMA, AUGUST 20 (MExN): A 24 year-old man, wanted for extortion in the Para-medical area, was arrested by the Kohima police on August 19.
According to a press release from the Kohima police, the accused, identified as Kevidetuo, was evading arrest after committing a series of extortions from truck drivers in the Para-medical area in the month of June. Three of his accomplices were arrested earlier and the police were on the look-out for him. A case under sections 384/392/34 of the IPC, read with 24(1A) (1B) Arm Act were registered at the North Police Station. He was arrested from Khuochiezou, T Khel, Model Village.
Described as a habitual offender, the release said that he has a history of run-ins with the law, having been arrested and charge-sheeted in connection with two other criminal cases earlier. “The arrested person has been remanded under Police custody for further interrogation and investigation,” it said.
