100 students take oath at College of Nursing CIHSR

The students during the 14th Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking ceremony of College of Nursing, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research held on December 2.

Dimapur, December 4 (MExN): The 14th Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking ceremony of the College of Nursing, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) was held on December 2. This ceremony formally recognizes and welcomes student nurses into the nursing profession, stated a press release received here.  

Parents and guardians, faculty members and staff of CIHSR, and fellow students bore witness to the solemn moment as 100 students, 50 General Nursing and Midwives and 50 B.Sc.  Nursing students who took the Florence Nightingale pledge and lit the Lamp with a dedication song.   

The event started with a scripture reading by Rongsenlemla and a prayer song performed by the post-basic 2nd-year students. 

Dr Sedevi Angami, Director, CIHSR, exhorted the gathering and shared the exemplary life of Florence Nightingale. Professor A Purnungla Aier, Principal, College of Nursing, CIHSR, welcomed the chief guest, T Temsusenla Aier, Principal, School of Nursing, Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) Mokokchung.

Aier urged the students to incorporate key values into their work: responsibility, dedicated service, respect for themselves and others, and a steadfast commitment to their duties, guided by reverence for the Lord. She urged the students to pursue human touch under their care besides proficiency in technological advancements. 

She expressed confidence that the graduates of the College of Nursing at CIHSR would be valuable assets to both patients and society at large. She also encouraged CIHSR to expand professional development opportunities by offering a Master’s in Nursing in the future.

Following the ceremony, Dr Keith Ingty, Senior Consultant of Orthopedics at CIHSR, dedicated the students in prayers. Arenla Amlari, Warden of N Noksangchila’s Girls Hostel at CIHSR, concluded the programme with benediction.
