11 receives NEZCC Young Talent Artiste Award

Kohima, March 25 (MExN): North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) held the Young Talent Artiste Award Ceremony at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on March 24.

Nagaland Governor RN Ravi while congratulating the award recipients said that the award presentation programme was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.  

A press release issued by PRO to Governor stated that Ravi said over the years NEZCC has performed exceptionally well, but that there is a need for course correction. “States are political entity and the core character is politics and power- there is aggressiveness in it, and culture is an attribute of society- there is harmony and it brings people together.”  He said “the character of states is getting imbued in the functioning of the zonal cultural centres and culture of the state is basically the culture of the people living in a region and the continuum of it brings people together and we need to highlight it.”

Governor presented the YTA Award 2018-19 to the following recipients: John Paleng (Folk & Tribal Dances & Songs), Debajit Deka (Mime), Rajashre Sarma (theatre), Shivam Saikia (theatre), Khumanthem Nganthoileima (Folk song), Haobam Hemlata Devi (Theatre), Milan Laishram (Painting), Dalariti Gratel Kharnaior (Folk song), Shovezo Keyho (Painting & Sculpture), Mhasiselhu Viyie (Sculpture) and Meribeni Ngullie (Beads Making).

NEZCC Director, Gouri Basu delivered the welcome address while cultural troupes from Manipur presented traditional dances.
