Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): The 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was observed across the state with songs, art competitions and various activities.

Chesezu: At Chesezu village under Phek District where Netaji is believed to have stayed, an associate of Netaji named Vezo Swuro, now aged 93 shared his experiences and history of how Netaji spent his stay.

In his speech, Kejaroko Pieru, Proprietor of Pier Tours, Kohima, thanked the villagers on behalf of Indiatourism for happily accepting the proposal to celebrate the anniversary at Chesezu.

He also shared the prospects on how Chesezu can become an eco-tourism destination and expressed his willingness to support the village in the years to come.

Muleyi Khesoh, ex-chairman, Chesezu Village Council thanked Indiatourism for choosing Chesezu village to observe the 125 birth anniversary of Netaji.

He also acknowledged Indiatourism for inspiring the community with the programme and encouraged the upcoming generation to carry on the legacy of Netaji.

With COVID-19 SOPs in mind, around 45 participants including 13 school children participated in the Art competition under the theme "Netaji at Chesezu".

In special folk tune presentation, Rapra Swuro and Thiyiveyi Nyekha sang a song about Netaji and the Japanese at Chesezu while Nuvetalu Nyekha and Nukhrutalu Nyekha sang about the legacy and history left by Netaji at Chesezu, a press release informed.

Dimapur Bongs: The Dimapur Bongs commemorated the day by hoisting the National Flag and garlanding Bose’s statue at their office premises. Various patriotic dances and songs were presented to mark the importance of the day which saw the attendance of dignitaries from different organisations.

According to a press release from the organization, Ganesh Sharma, the advisor of Dimapur Bongs who is also the Superintendent of DMC, delivered a motivational speech where he highlighted the contribution of Netaji towards the freedom struggle of India. He also urged the youth members and the children to feel proud about their rich culture while expressing gratitude towards the Dimapur Bongs for organising the programme.

Senior member of Dimapur Bongs, Juel Acherjee also spoke on the occasion, during which he advised the school going children and the performers to focus on their goals and march ahead with positive attitude. He also tried to instill the feeling of patriotism, bravery and social responsibility among the youth members. 

A short speech on the life of Bose was also delivered by the Dimapur Bongs member Rupam Dasgupta, the release stated. 

NKKK: The Netaji Subash Kala Kendra, an organisation of Netaji Birthday Celebration Committee, Dimapur, organised a programme at Railway Netaji Colony. The day was interspersed with songs in honour of Netaji by students of NSKK.
As per a press release from the NSKK, the programme commenced with welcome speech from NSKK Principal Sushanta Bhattacharjee and the national flag was hoisted by Sabooj Sharma, head cashier at Canara Bank, Dimapur Branch. 
Several dignitaries and seniors members delivered short speeches about the life and times of Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose, while also reflecting on the lessons that his life can teach the youth of today.
Dipankar Das, convener of the programme proposed the vote of thanks at the concluded the programme, the release stated.
