The 12th Inter-Departmental Tournament-cum-DC Cup, organised by the District Administration and the District Sports Council Zunheboto (DSCZ), concluded successfully with a closing function held on October 31.

The programme was chaired by T. Bokaho Zhimo, Member of the District Sports Council Zunheboto, while the invocation was pronounced by Watirenla, Associate Youth Pastor of Ao Baptist Church. A special presentation was given by Leah P. Kiba, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Nihoshe Jimo, Vice Chairman of the DSCZ.

Dr. Kupe Kapfo, Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, graced the occasion as the special guest. In his address, he commended the dedication and discipline of all participating departments and encouraged the gathering to follow the footsteps of contributors who exemplify teamwork and commitment in their respective services. He emphasised the importance of dedication, concentration and sincerity in achieving one’s goals and delivering quality public service.

A special musical performance by Leah P. Kiba added colour to the event.

In the overall results, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Zunheboto emerged as the overall champion, while the 8th NAP, Naltoqa, finished as the runners-up.

In the badminton events, the Department of Youth Resources won the women’s doubles title, while the Department of Social Welfare finished as runners-up. In the men’s singles category, the 8th NAP took the top position, followed by the DEF as runners-up. In the men’s doubles event, 8th NAP emerged winners, while PWD (R&B), Aghunato, were runners-up.

In carrom (doubles only), PHED Zunheboto won both the men’s and women’s categories. DEF Zunheboto finished runners-up in both categories. PHED Zunheboto, the defending champion in men’s carrom, claimed their fifth title this year.

In arm wrestling, the Education Department (DEO) won the women’s category, with DEF Zunheboto as runners-up. In the men’s category, DEF Zunheboto took the top position, while the District Administration secured the second place.

In chess, Zunheboto Government College won the men’s category, followed by PWD (Housing) as runners-up. In the women’s category, DRDA Zunheboto was declared the winner by walkover.

In the penalty shootout competition, the Education Department (DEO) won in the men’s category, with the Excise Department finishing second. In the women’s category, PHED Zunheboto claimed first place, followed by DRDA Zunheboto as runners-up.

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from various government departments, fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship and unity among the district’s workforce.
