14 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland reaffirm stance on Naga solution

Kohima, October 17 (MExN): The 14 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland has urged all negotiating entities in the Naga Peace Talks to wrap up the process of signing an agreement without further delay.

It also made an appeal to the negotiating parties stating that any part of agreements emerging out of the talks that are to be implemented in Nagaland should be made known to the tribal hohos before a final solution is signed.

In a press release on Sunday, the 14 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland informed that an emergency meeting was conducted on October 16 wherein the hohos reaffirmed their stance on the Naga political issue. “The house has also reaffirmed that the Tribal Hohos will stand for the larger interests of the Nagas for early solution,” the release stated.

The 14 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland also stated that “any resolution adopted by the Naga Hoho should not be taken into consideration or treated as the voice of the Nagas of Nagaland as not a single Naga tribe of Nagas of Nagaland is a part/affiliated to Naga Hoho.”

“Anything that is for the Nagas of Nagaland will be determined only by the Tribal Hohos of Nagaland,” it asserted.

Further, it said that the house had discussed and resolved that any ‘threat or intimidation’ t the Tribal Hoho leaders and other Naga civil society leaders by any groups would not be tolerated and such matters would be publicly confronted by all tribes.

Meanwhile, the 14 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland acknowledged AK Mishra, the official representative of the Government of India, “for showing utmost urgency in the peace process with an effort to bring the political talks to a logical conclusion.”
