Dimapur, March 23 (DIPR): 140 wrestlers drawn from different districts of Nagaland including four from Manipur (Senapati district) are participating in the 7th Naga Style Open Wrestling Meet at Kohima local ground.
The youngest wrestler participating in the meet is Vethito Medo-o, 16 year old who is also the shortest (4.8”) from K. Bawe Phek district while the oldest wrestler is Vekusayi, 34 years hailing from Suthozu Nagwü under Phek district. Keduovilhou Kiewhuo from Nerhema is the tallest wrestler standing at 6.1”. In a rare appearance, Mhonbemo from Akuk village under Wokha district is also participating in the competition.
The winner of the 7th Open Naga Wrestling tournament 2011 will walk away with a cash prize of `90,000/- while the 2nd and the 3rd winners will be pocketing `60,000/- and `40,000/- respectively. The wrestler in the 4th position will become richer by `20,000/- while all the quarter finalist will be given `5,000/- each, all pre-quarter finalist `2,000/- each, all winners of 2nd round `1,000/- each and winners of 1st round will be given `500/- each. Later in the evening, wrestling Secretary ASA, Zasivoto Roto, will grace the closing function as guest of honour, who will also give away the prizes to the winners, at the Kohima Local Ground.
