Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): Dimapur HIV Positive Women Association (D+WA) observed the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial day on May 16 with an estimated 150 positive families, friends and NGOs lighting a candle in their respective homes and observing a minute’s silence to honour those who had died of AIDS.
The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society had entrusted D+WA to observe the day in a fitting manner with strict compliance to the lockdown protocols. Due to the prevailing situation, the D+WA informed that it decided to observe the event in a different manner this year.
Dimapur HIV Positive Women Association (D+WA) is an initiative of People in Need Foundation (PNF) and was launched on March 27, 2021 by the District Chief Medical Officer Dr Mereninla Senlem. The Association has undertaken several initiatives till date. D+WA has a membership of 160 positive women as of today, it informed.
