CT University to recognize deserving teachers at Summit

CT University, Punjab will be organizing the first Nagaland Education Summit cum Excellence Award will be held on December 4 at Hotel Saramati. Speaking with the media fraternity at Hotel Saramati this evening, Pro Chancellor of CT University, Dr Manbir Singh said that the objective of organizing this event is to bring Nagaland and Punjab together.
Terming it as a Naga-Punjab education initiative, Dr Singh said that they have done such events in various parts of the Northeast. Along with the education summit and the award, the organizers will also be launching a free IAS programme for students of Nagaland where a full one-year virtual IAS programme can be availed by students from any part of Nagaland.
This initiative is part of the university’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). Stating that the amount spent normally by a student for IAS coaching comes to around 2-3 lakh rupees, the CT Group felt the need to do something from their end for students who cannot come to Punjab and study.
Also, coinciding with the silver jubilee year for CT Group which was established in 1997, Dr Singh said that the university is giving away scholarship of Rs 38 crore in the entire nation for all courses in CT University, where students can avail upto 100% scholarship, based on their merit scores.
With more than 2000 students from the states of Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur and West Bengal already availing this IAS programme, Deputy Director of CT University, M Sanjay Sharma said that their main objective is to provide quality education with less expenditure to every household.
He also highlighted that the university has the maximum number of doctorate faculties and is an industry-driven university, where 60% of the syllable is covered by the industry professionals and 40% by the teachers.
The key takeaway of the summit would be the teachers learning about the latest teaching pedagogies, where they will also be briefed on the changes brought about by the National Education Policy (NEP). They will elucidate on the success rate of the hybrid mode of teaching and how they can transform the model education system. The excellence award will be awarded to the deserving teachers who will be recommended by the principals from 45 schools in Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Kohima. The main motive is to recognize the teachers who are doing a commendable job and do not necessarily get the state or national award.
Altogether 80 teachers will be awarded during the summit, as per the parameter set and their performance during the last five years. The officials informed that this will be an annual event and gradually they will also have excellence awards for meritorious students as well.
