Kohima, May 29 (MExN): The official theme song of the 25th Dr T Ao Trophy titled “25 Years of Glory” was ceremonially released on May 27, marking a significant milestone in the build-up to one of Nagaland’s most celebrated football tournaments.
Releasing the theme song, Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio assured administrative approval for the timely completion of infrastructure development, including galleries and other essential facilities, to ensure readiness ahead of the tournament.
The official theme song, written and composed by Sunep Lemtur, was performed by an ensemble of artists including Sunep Lemtur, Imna Yaden, Lenen Jamir, Mensemnaro, Sangti Ozukum, Yimkum and Arenchenla.
MLA and Advisor Temjenmenba Pongen, addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of unity, collaboration and dedication in organising the silver jubilee edition of the tournament in a grand and memorable manner.
The history and legacy of the Dr T Ao Tournament was presented by K Neibou Sekhose, President of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA).
Sekhose highlighted the tournament’s role in nurturing football talent across the state and reiterated that Dr T Ao’s contribution to sports continues to inspire generations.
He further stated that the tournament deserves recognition at the national level and called upon all stakeholders to collectively uphold and celebrate the legacy associated with the iconic name.
The organising committee also shared plans to invite officials associated with Mohun Bagan to further elevate the stature of the tournament.
It was noted that the NFA, along with other sports bodies, has made strides at the national level, reinforcing Nagaland’s growing presence in Indian football.
The organising committee appealed to all stakeholders, departments and the public to extend full support in hosting the tournament in a bigger and better manner.
The Dr T Ao Trophy, organisers stated, stands not only as a football competition but also as a celebration of unity, sportsmanship and the enduring legacy of a pioneer.
