275 register for free cancer screening, health camp at Phesama

Kohima, September 14 (MExN): A free cancer screening-cum-multispeciality health camp was held at Phesama Village Government Middle School on September 13, with 275 people registering for the camp. 

A total of 150 free screenings for oral, breast and cervical cancer were conducted, besides 31 ultrasound scans, 26 minor general and dental procedures and 84 diagnostic tests. Free medicines were also distributed.

The camp was organised by the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation, a registered public charitable trust, in collaboration with the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, with support from Biocon Foundation, Bengaluru, and Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima.

The programme included a welcome address by Thejangulie Ciesotsu, MSW, Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation; a camp briefing by Dr Kikrukhrietuo Khezhie, Emergency Physician Assistant, Putuonuo Hospital; and an oral health and cancer awareness session by Dr Neiphrezo Sorünuo, Dental Surgeon, NHAK.

Tuolie Seleyi, VCC Phesama, proposed the vote of thanks, while Dr Thorsie Katiry, MD Medicine, offered the prayer.

A total of 42 medical personnel participated in the camp, including six doctors, 34 paramedics from Putuonuo Hospital and private hospitals and clinics, and eight project staff of the Dr K & T Keditsu Foundation.
