Officials and beneficiaries during the distribution of blacksmith tools to 38 project villages of batch V and VI of Kohima district under PMKSY-WDC.
Kohima, October 21 (MExN): The Department of Land Resources, Kohima district organised a programme for distribution of blacksmith tools to 38 project villages of batch V and VI of Kohima district at the premises of Directorate, with the theme, ‘Livelihood- a step closer to better living’ under PMKSY-WDC.
The programme held on October 21 was chaired by Dr Menuosietuo Tseikha, DPO, Kohima in the presence of Supervisory Officer, Vanchamo Ngullie, Joint Director. While welcoming the participants at the programme, he focused on the scope of earning locally by taking up livelihood activities through innovative ideas and highlighted the importance of kitchen gardening in our present scenario and encouraged the beneficiaries to take up the same.
Additional Director, Panjung Jamir, also highlighted various activities of the department in other districts and encouraged the beneficiaries to work hard and to improve their standard of living.
Director, Renben Jami, shared that as long as we live, we need food and farming being an integral part of our life, tools and implements needs to be upgraded. Further he encouraged the selected beneficiaries to come up with indigenous style and brand to generate employment and encourage the farmers to go for large scale farming. He dwelled on the adoption of permaculture with innovative designs which the department has been advocating in all the districts.
The programme concluded by handing over the tools to the beneficiaries.
