5 new COVID-19 cases in Nagaland; 157 active cases

Dimapur, April 11 (MExN): Nagaland reported five new COVID-19 cases on Sunday taking the number of active cases to 157. The new cases were detected from 2 returnees/travellers in Dimapur district while Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, reported one case each from traced contacts. According to updates from Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom on Twitter, two patients – one each from Kohima and Dimapur, who had previously tested positive for the virus, have recovered. This takes the total number of infections in the state to 12,405, out of which 11,992 have recovered.

Mokokchung DC notifies containment zones
In view of the detection of COVID-19 positive cases and in the larger interest of public health and safety, Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Limaawabang Jamir has notified the sealing of six houses in Kumlong Ward and one in Mongsenbai Ward of Mokokchung town. “The containment zone is mapped and cordoned off and the public and all concerned are advised to follow all safety precautions of wearing mask all the time, frequently washing hands and maintaining social/physical distances to ensure public and personal safety within the proximity of the containment zone,” the DC’s order stated.

It also informed that failure to comply with the guidelines would attract penalization under Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and relevant section of the Indian Penal Code.
