MON, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, graced the inaugural programme of the 5th Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2024 as the Guest of Honour on December 11 at Local Ground, Mon.
In his speech, the DC expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, partners, singers, actors, and viewers for their participation and organisation of the event, despite the challenges faced in a remote area like Mon.
He noted that, over the past five years, the Mon International Trade Fair & Expo has successfully continued, fostering opportunities for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products while learning from external participants.
He appealed to the local community to engage and collaborate with visitors to gain fresh ideas and insights, emphasising that such interactions contribute significantly to social change.
The DC spoke about the gradual development in the region and expressed optimism that this legacy would be sustained in the future. Following his speech, he inaugurated and inspected the stalls at the fair.
Short speeches were also delivered by Bandang Wati, SDPO, Manpang; a representative of the Konyak Union; and Tingshim Wangnao, Treasurer, all Wards of Mon. The programme was chaired by Er. Mhao Humtsoe, EAC Mon, and the welcome address was delivered by L Samuel Konyak, SDO (C) Mon. A special performance was presented by Chahwang Konyak and Team Loyal.
