5th Peren district legislature trophy 2011 underway

Peren, November 4 (DIPR): The Minister for Planning and Co-ordination, Evaluation, Vety. & A.H. and Parliamentary Affairs, Nagaland T. R. Zeliang inaugurated the 5th Peren District Legislature Trophy (PDLT) 2011 on November 3 at Peren Town, local ground. Speaking at the inaugural function, the Minister congratulated the Peren District Referee Association and the Tournament Board for the successful conduct of the past four Legislators Tournament and extended his appreciation for organizing this 5th PDLT in Peren. Stressing on the importance of games and sports, he said that peace is requisite for development in all fronts and challenged them in this regard and further said that everything is possible if we change our mindset and co-operate with one another.
Mentioning that sports turns enemy into friendship, he cited the examples of Japan and Korea also India and Pakistan relationships through games and sports. Stating that Nagas are second to none in the field of sports, music and dance, he narrated various examples and success story of Zeliangrong and Nagas in these areas.  The function was conducted by Secretary PDRA, Heikwetgong and invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev. Suitei. Presidential address was delivered by President PDRA, Ernest Sephe and vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary Tournament committee, Suigong. Other highlights included special number presented by Woebegone, Peren winner of N.E. Rock contest 2011, lighting of tournament torch by Keyipeurai best player PDLT - 2010, Oath taking by Treasurer PDRA, Arai. Earlier the Minister also inaugurated the Gallery cum - PDRA office building.
The Minister was accompanied by central NPF Gen. Secretary, Secretary NPF I/C Peren District, Peren Division NPF President, A/C President, host of public leaders and Heads of Departments amongst other. Altogether 30 teams are participating in the tournament.
